Episode 013

Ben Walters: [00:00:00] Super Pumped Life podcast. Today I am coming to you again from a bedroom, from a bed, and I wanna tell you a little bit more. Last week I talked about how if you don't have the proper support slats in your bed and those are broken underneath or weakened, it can really mess you up. And just in general, it's a reminder that proper support and encouragement in our lives is really critical to a SuperPumped Life.

Ben Walters: Last week I was in my bed doing a little bit of work, and my dog, Denver, he came up. He wanted to get in the bed. He thinks this is the world's largest Ethan Allen dog bed. Denver's getting a little long in the tooth, and he's been in this house since 1895. He's the original resident. He used to be able to jump right up into the bed and not a problem, but over the years he's got a little weaker, and so he struggles more with it.

Ben Walters: So on this particular day, it took him eight tries. Eight tries, and he kept hitting this right here and bouncing back. And we joked that he just can't get the Cessna off the runway. He just doesn't have the lift. After watching this for a while, comically, I was like, come on, [00:01:00] buddy. You can do it Denver. You can get up in the bed. So he was all excited about that on that particular day. He's not today. On that ninth try with encouragement, he made it up in the bed and I was like, wow, that's all it took? I literally just put my laptop down and was like, you can do it, buddy. And he was on up.

Ben Walters: And I thought about how little encouragement it takes to really make someone's day. You can be in your bed like I am right now, grab your phone, and text somebody. Maybe it's a young person who's going through final papers and exams and all that comes at the end of a semester, and you just say, hey, you got this, and that just lifts 'em up a little bit, that support you give them, and they make it through.

Ben Walters: Or maybe it's somebody who is going through chemo and they're just feeling like, I don't wanna go today. And you're like, hey, you got this, girl. And they make it through.

Ben Walters: I think about even the, the home field advantage in sports is all about the support we get from the fans. So teams play better at home because [00:02:00] in basketball you have 10,000 or 20,000 fans cheering for you. "You can do it," "make a stop," "make the basket," all of that. And so that carries us through. That's why teams play better at home. It's that encouragement. The court's still the same. The ball is still the same. The refs are still the same, although sometimes you get better calls at home as every good sports fan knows.

Ben Walters: But the point is, go out, give that little bit of encouragement, and you will find it makes all the difference in supporting those you love. Go out and make a SuperPumped Life and a SuperPumped day.
